Morocco House

Rammed earth, a single courtyard, and a staircase that does most of the work. Morocco House is organised around the movement of shade across a day, with every room placed to meet the sun at its gentlest.

(Story)

Walls are thick and the openings few. Light is let in as a measured gift, through slots, wells and screens, and the palm planting is treated as architecture rather than decoration.

The interior follows the same restraint. Plaster, stone and timber are left to age, and the palette is borrowed from the ground the house stands on.
